Experience Guide

Job Details:

Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen downtown distillery experience is looking for dedicated, organized experience guides who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Our newly remodeled 1874 building at 320 E Clybourn St, Milwaukee, will be a one-of-a-kind venue not found outside Distillery Row. The Crafthouse will include tasting room bar, restaurant, merchandise sales, distillery production area with tours, private event spaces and rooftop patio. High volumes with lots of opportunity are expected. We are seeking fun and outgoing people to join our team for both part- and full-time experience guide.

Sous Chef

Job Details:

This is an incredible opportunity to grow with our company and get in on the ground floor of Central Standard Craft House & Kitchens brand new restaurant! We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated Sous Chef to help lead the kitchen. A perfect candidate for our Sous position will enjoy working closely with small farmers and local purveyors. As well as bringing high energy, focus and creativity day in and day out. At Central Standard you will be learning on a continual basis involving fermentation, preservation, fresh pasta, desserts & pastries, and sous vide cookery. A positive attitude is a must!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains high quality and consistency in all BOH processes
  • Leads by example; know that all BOH employees look to you for guidance regarding cooking technique, behavior and work ethic
  • Teaches each staff member proper technique and execution
  • Takes a role during menu planning discussions
  • Promotes cooperative effort, team spirit and good morale among all employees
  • Focuses on improving food cost (ensures proper product rotation, utilization and inventory to ensure minimum waste, etc.)
  • Focuses on safety and health regulations (ensures proper hand washing, PPE usage, safety food prep, etc.)
  • Assists with purchasing all back of house supplies
  • Takes a proactive approach to facility maintenance
  • Maintains strong lines of communication with entire leadership team and staff to drive the success of the restaurant
  • Helps with duties of other employees (i.e. line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, etc.) when necessary because of an unexpected absence or extra volume
  • Has a strong understanding of company background, core values and philosophy
  • Performs other administrative tasks as will be communicated by Executive Chef
  • Maintains composure under pressure


Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certification required

Bartender

  • Take food and drink orders and serve to customers.
  • Mix traditional and creative cocktails per standard drink recipes(batch cocktails, syrups, etc)
  • Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences.
  • Maintain a clean working area, and wash glassware and utensils.
  • Process payments for customers.
  • Build a rapport with customers to create a positive atmosphere.

Server Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Serves patrons with food and beverages in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
  • Helps patrons select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the Executive Chef’s specialties, identifying, and suggesting appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions.
  • Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by recording patrons’ choices and identifying patrons’ special dietary needs and special requests.
  • Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons’ choices from bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service bars.
  • Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Obtains revenues by totaling charges, issuing bills and accepting payments.
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by fellow team members.
  • Punctuality and scheduling dependability.

Event Servers

Job Details:

We are looking for part time Catering Servers to join our team in servicing private events in our newly renovated downtown Milwaukee location where we will host weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate cocktail parties, and much more! Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Provide top-notch hospitality to our guests by understanding the scope and details of the event as detailed on the BEOs and instructions as well as anticipate guests needs as they come up.
  • Assist with the complete setup, clean up, and breakdown of the event space.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices.
  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Assist the culinary team and bartenders with set up of food and beverage stations, replenishing, and breakdown.

  • Arrive as scheduled for shifts and all meetings.
  • Maintain uniform cleanliness and proper attire at all times without exception.

Experience/Skills:

  • Banquet/Event serving experience preferred.
  • A flexible schedule with the ability to work various days, evenings, and weekends as events are scheduled.
  • Lift and transport up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to carry a tray of food, beverages, plates, etc.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift, stoop, bends and clean to maintain service area.
  • Walks and stands during entire shift, except when on break.
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers, guests, and teammates.

Dishwasher

Job Details:

Central Standard Craft House & Kitchen is looking for a dedicated, organized dishwasher who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast paced culinary environment. The Dishwasher’s duties include washing soiled plates and flatware in a high temp dish machine, restocking items, cleaning appliances and machines, empty and clean trash receptacles, and other duties, as needed such as mopping and assisting with cleaning areas in the entire restaurant.

To be successful as a Dishwasher, you should be a committed, communicative team player with excellent time management skills. You should be able to prioritize tasks in a busy setting and adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures.


Essential Functions:

  • Wash glassware, pots, pans, silverware and plates, among other utensils/objects.
  • Understand and know how to use a dish machine.
  • Know how to use a three compartment sink.
  • Know how to properly use and distinguish different cleaning chemicals.
  • Work at a fast and efficient pace.
  • Take direction from the chefs and line cooks.
  • Be able to deep clean above and below all surfaces.
  • Be able to organize efficiently.
  • Know how to handle sharp objects.
  • Have good time management skills.
  • Sweep and mop well.
  • Work well with other staff in a high volume work environment.


Physical Functions:

  • Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed.
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently.
  • Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
  • Work in both warm and cool environments.
  • High levels of noise from music, customer and employee traffic.

Line Cook

Essential Job Functions:

  • Preparation and execution of dishes and recipes to a high standard is required in conjunction with maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols.
  • The Line Cook is required to set up, maintain, and execute menu items as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Communicate clearly with the Chef of any product needs related.
  • Prep food products. Use proper rotation, first in first out, checking for quality, preventing food waste.
  • Assist the Chef in managing the standards for food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures according to the Chef’s specifications.
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with all other employees through a positive and team-driven work effort.
  • Arrive as scheduled for shifts and all meetings.
  • Daily duties may also include but are not limited to unpacking and stocking kitchen deliveries, as well as assigned cleaning duties.
  • Maintain uniform cleanliness and proper attire at all times without exception.

Experience / Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of cooking terms, techniques, and recipes.
  • 2-6 years’ kitchen experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Serve Safe Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and recipes. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees.
