The Crafthouse Building Gets A Historic Preservation Award At Cream Of Cream City Awards
Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen

The Cream of the Cream City Awards, sponsored by the city’s Historic Preservation Commission and the Milwaukee Common Council, will be recognizing individuals and organizations next week that have made outstanding contributions in the field of historic preservation and heritage education and advocacy in the City of Milwaukee.

Central Standard took home the award in the Commercial Restoration category for the Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen location.

Central Standard Distillery’s renovation of the Wisconsin Leather Company Building included extensive structural interventions to stabilize the building, while preserving the buildings many original features. The project transformed the long-vacant space into a vibrant hub for the community to gather and celebrate.

2024 Cream of the Cream City Award honorees (i.e. us!) receive a commemorative brick recognizing how they have met the special stewardship challenges required of historic buildings.
