As Brandy Old Fashioned Month sweeps across Wisconsin, Central Standard Craft Distillery invites enthusiasts to celebrate by nominating their favorite mixologists and brandy aficionados for the Brandy Old Fashioned Hall of Fame. Launched in 2021, the hall of fame recognizes those who craft the best brandy old fashioneds, with nominations coming from friends, family, and colleagues. The award program is not just about the drink — it’s about the stories behind each honoree, and their journey to perfecting Wisconsin’s iconic cocktail. Central Standard’s monthlong celebration is designed to inspire Wisconsinites to fuel their old fashioneds with locally made brandy, showcasing the best of what
the state has to offer.
“Last year, we were thrilled to receive over a hundred submissions, each telling a unique story of how our brandy has impacted them,” said Evan Hughes, co-founder of Central Standard Distillery. “Whether someone discovered a passion for mixology or became the go-to bartender at family gatherings, we’re honored to have created a community around Wisconsin’s favorite cocktail.”
Nominations are open until September 30, and are welcomed from across the Midwest. Visit Central Standard’s website to nominate a potential Hall of Famer. Central Standard will evaluate submissions, selecting inductees based on the strength of their nomination. Winners, to be selected in October, will receive lifetime VIP status at the Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen in downtown Milwaukee, have their name added to a commemorative plaque, and enjoy a year’s supply of North Wisconsin Brandy, complete with a custom bottle featuring their photo.
“As the state that consumes the most brandy, we have a unique opportunity to showcase our local pride through cocktails,” said Pat McQuillan, co-founder of Central Standard Craft Distillery.
“Our brandy is a true reflection of Wisconsin — authentic, welcoming, and locally sourced.” Brandy Old Fashioned Day, previously proclaimed by former Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, coincides with the first day of fall — this year on September 23 — marking the transition from summer’s fruity flavors to the warm, comforting richness of brandy. On this day, the distillery will pause production to emphasize the significance of enjoying locally distilled brandy.
As one of Central Standard’s top-selling spirits, its North Wisconsin Brandy offers a taste of the state’s renowned quality. With an ABV of 40%, North Wisconsin Brandy is available in 750mL bottles at all major retail and independent liquor stores across Wisconsin, as well as select stores in Illinois. The brandy will be taking on a new label, which will hit store shelves in the coming weeks. For more information on where to find Central Standard products, visit the product locator here.
